# Global Compendium

The Global Compendium is the supreme governing document of AIESEC International (AI). It defines the rules, structures, and standards that apply to all AIESEC entities worldwide — including AIESEC in Denmark. No national or local document may contradict the Global Compendium.

This page provides an orientation summary only. The Global Compendium is a detailed legal and governance document. For any governance question, dispute, or compliance matter involving international rules, always consult the full official text.

The Global Compendium and related international governance documents are stored in the shared Google Drive under **`06 — Governance/Global Compendium/`**.

## What the Global Compendium Covers

### 1. Purpose and Values

The Compendium begins by defining AIESEC's purpose, vision, and values. These are not just aspirational statements — they are the foundation on which all governance rules are built. Every entity and every member of AIESEC operates under these values.

### 2. International Structure

* **International Congress (IC):** The supreme decision-making body of AIESEC, where all member countries (MCs) are represented. The IC ratifies the Global Compendium, elects AIESEC International's leadership, and makes global policy decisions.
* **AIESEC International (AI):** The global executive team, responsible for strategy, support, and coordination across the network.
* **Global Leadership Support Committee (GLSC):** The international oversight body that monitors MC performance and governance. The GLSC is to AI what the ECB is to the MC in Denmark.
* **Member Committees (MCs):** The national leadership teams in each country. AIESEC in Denmark's MC operates under the Global Compendium's MC framework.

### 3. Membership

* How a country becomes a member of AIESEC (recognition, expansion, probation, suspension)
* Rights and obligations of member countries
* Categories of membership (full member, expansion entity, etc.)
* Conditions for loss of membership

### 4. International Congress

* Composition and voting rights
* Agenda and proposal procedures
* Election of AI and global governance positions
* Amendment procedures for the Global Compendium itself

### 5. AIESEC International (AI) Team

* AI composition, election, and term of office
* AI responsibilities and powers
* AI accountability to the IC and GLSC

### 6. GLSC

* GLSC composition and selection
* GLSC powers — monitoring MC performance, conducting reviews, recommending sanctions
* GLSC relationship with MCs and AI

### 7. Exchange Programme Framework

* Global definition of AIESEC's exchange products (Global Talent, Global Volunteer, Global Teacher)
* Overarching quality and safety standards
* Relationship to AEPP and APIP (which operationalise the Compendium's exchange framework)

### 8. Finance

* Global financial framework — MC fees to AI, financial reporting standards
* Rules on revenue generation and use of the AIESEC brand for commercial purposes

### 9. Brand and Identity

* Rules governing the use of the AIESEC name, logo, and brand elements
* Authorised and prohibited uses
* Brand governance at the national and local level

### 10. Ethics and Safe Space

* The global Safe Space Policy — a framework for ensuring that all AIESEC environments are free from harassment, discrimination, and abuse
* Ethics guidelines for members and leaders
* Reporting and enforcement mechanisms at the international level

## Key Sections for AIESEC in Denmark

Not every section of the Global Compendium is equally relevant to your day-to-day work. Here are the sections most likely to affect you:

| If You Are... | Focus On... |
| ------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **LCP** | Membership obligations, MC accountability, GLSC oversight, exchange framework |
| **MC Member** | AI and GLSC relationship, IC procedures, global financial obligations, brand rules |
| **ECB Member** | GLSC framework (as a model for national oversight), amendment procedures |
| **VP oGX / iCX**   | Exchange programme framework, AEPP/APIP relationship                               |
| **VP MKT** | Brand and identity rules |
| **General Member** | Purpose and values, ethics and safe space |

## How the Global Compendium Is Updated

1. **Proposals** are submitted by MCs, AI, or the GLSC to the International Congress
2. **Review** by the IC plenary — debate, amendment, and refinement
3. **Vote** at the IC — typically requires a supermajority
4. **Publication** and distribution to all MCs

Updates typically happen annually at the IC (held in July/August). Your MC should communicate any significant changes after each IC.

## Governance Document Hierarchy

| Priority    | Document                | Scope                         |
| ----------- | ----------------------- | ----------------------------- |
| 1 (highest) | **Global Compendium**   | All AIESEC entities worldwide |
| 2           | **AEPP / APIP**         | Exchange programmes globally  |
| 3           | **National Compendium** | AIESEC in Denmark             |
| 4           | **Local Compendia**     | Individual LCs in Denmark     |

If any lower-level document conflicts with a higher-level document, the higher-level document prevails.
