# Your First 30 Days

> **Step 2 of 4** — Your First 30 Days

## Your First 30 Days

This page breaks your first month in AIESEC in Denmark into four weeks. Each week has a clear focus, a few key actions, and a checkpoint to make sure you are on track. You do not need to do everything perfectly — the goal is to build momentum and start contributing.

### Week 1: Set up and orient

**Focus:** Get your tools working, meet your team, and understand the basics.

**Actions:**

* Accept your Expa invitation and log in. Explore the dashboard, find your Local Committee (LC), and look at your profile settings.
* Join the LC communication channel (Slack, Microsoft Teams, or WhatsApp group). Introduce yourself — name, university, programme, and what interested you about AIESEC.
* Attend your first General Body Meeting (GBM). Just show up, listen, and meet people. You do not need to prepare anything.
* Schedule a 1:1 with your Team Leader (TL). Ask them: What is our team working on? What do you expect from me this month? Who else should I meet?
* Read the [Welcome page](/new-member-guide/welcome.md) and [The AIESEC Way](/general-knowledge/the-aiesec-way.md) in this hub.

**Checkpoint:** By the end of week 1, you should have Expa access, be in the communication channels, have attended one GBM, and know your TL's name and expectations.

### Week 2: Attend your first team meeting

**Focus:** Start working with your functional team and understand what your area does.

**Actions:**

* Attend your first functional team meeting (e.g., outgoing exchange (oGX) meeting, marketing (MKT) standup, talent management (TM) sync). Listen, take notes, and ask questions.
* Learn what your functional area is responsible for. Read the relevant page in [Functional Knowledge](/functional-knowledge/functional-knowledge.md) or ask your TL for a quick overview.
* Complete any training materials your TL assigns. This might include Expa tutorials, product knowledge documents, or internal presentations.
* If your LC has a buddy system, have your first check-in with your buddy. Ask them what they wish they had known in their first week.
* Start familiarizing yourself with the [Dictionary](/general-knowledge/dictionary.md) — you will hear a lot of acronyms. Bookmark that page.

**Checkpoint:** By the end of week 2, you should be attending team meetings, understand the basics of your functional area, and be able to explain in one sentence what your team does.

### Week 3: Understand your department and take on a task

**Focus:** Go deeper into your functional area and deliver something small.

**Actions:**

* Ask your TL for your first concrete task. This could be reaching out to a potential exchange participant (EP), drafting a social media post, researching a partner company, or updating a spreadsheet. It does not need to be big — it needs to be real.
* Learn how your task connects to the bigger picture. If you are calling EPs, understand that each successful conversation moves someone toward a life-changing exchange. If you are drafting content, understand that it helps recruit the next generation of members.
* Attend a National Education Cycle (NEC) session if one is scheduled this month. NEC sessions cover functional skills, leadership development, and organizational knowledge — they are designed for members at your stage.
* Explore the [Tools Introduction](/new-member-guide/tools-introduction.md) page and make sure you are comfortable with the platforms your team uses daily.
* Ask your TL for feedback on your first task. Not just "good job" — ask what you could do differently next time.

**Checkpoint:** By the end of week 3, you should have completed at least one task, received feedback, and understand how your work contributes to your LC's goals.

### Week 4: Deliver and reflect

**Focus:** Build consistency and reflect on your first month.

**Actions:**

* Complete any ongoing tasks from week 3 and take on another. Your TL should be giving you a steady (but manageable) stream of work by now.
* Attend your second (or third) GBM. You will notice you understand more of what is being discussed compared to week 1.
* Have a 1:1 with your TL to review your first month. Discuss: What went well? Where did you struggle? What do you want to focus on next month? What skills are you developing?
* Fill out the [Onboarding Checklist](/new-member-guide/onboarding-checklist.md) and make sure you have not missed any setup steps.
* Reflect on whether you want to deepen your current role or explore other areas. AIESEC encourages lateral movement — if you joined marketing but are curious about exchange operations, talk to your VP about shadowing another team.

**Checkpoint:** By the end of week 4, you should be a contributing member of your team, have attended multiple GBMs, and have a plan for what you want to achieve in month 2.

**Feeling behind?** Do not worry. Some members complete these steps faster, others need a bit more time depending on their university schedule and the LC's meeting rhythm. The important thing is to keep showing up and asking questions.

### What comes after 30 days

After your first month, you transition from "new member" to "active member." This means:

* You are expected to attend team meetings and GBMs consistently
* You take ownership of recurring tasks in your functional area
* You begin contributing ideas, not just executing instructions
* You may be invited to attend a national conference or regional event

For a longer-term view of the member journey, see the [Welcome page](/new-member-guide/welcome.md).
